“My Village" is a type of circus-themed drama. It was created in 2005 and gradually perfected in 2009. The play is a combination of many theatrical genres, including: rope-walking, acrobatics, juggling, miming, and singing. Concurrently, the entire context of the story is set entirely with bamboo. This perfect combination brings a rustic but artistic space to the "village".

 

The story of the village is told by 20 circus performers.

The opening scene of the play is a tranquil scene of the early morning, with people bustling about with baskets and tools, working in the fields. The following scenes of the "village" are a microcosm of Vietnamese society, reflecting the social institutions during that time. The image of the Northern countryside appears with familiar scenes such as crabbing and clamming, village festivals, carrying baskets for sale, the night of the singing girls, rice planting under the moonlight, village building, young lovebirds, and weddings.

The show ends with a scene of the night falling, accompanied by the lullaby of a mother, the humming of a girl embroidering, and the singing of a boy. All of these stories are told through acrobatics and juggling, which reflect the vibrant and ever-flowing but strangely peaceful life of the Vietnamese countryside.
